Yes—registration is required for all bidding methods. It ensures identity verification and a transparent auction process.

• Floor auctions (in person): register on site before the auction starts or during the event (we recommend arriving early).
• Online/eLive & pre-bids (AUEX): register in advance via AUEX, at least 24 hours before the auction start.
• Phone bidding: please contact us in advance; we’ll complete registration and ID checks at least 24 hours before the auction.

Bidding is not possible without completed registration.

When accessing our auction platform online, identity verification is mandatory for security reasons and to meet KYC/AML legal requirements (identifying and verifying the client is a core part of customer due diligence in the EU).  

We perform identity  verification via the trusted provider Stripe Identity. The entire process is online and typically takes only a few minutes.  

If you attend a floor auction in person, your identity will be checked on site during registration.

During registration (or later if the system requests it), you’ll complete online verification via our trusted partner Stripe Identity. The process is fully digital, usually takes just a few minutes, and is easy to do on your phone. It verifies a valid government ID and performs a brief selfie/liveness check to confirm the document belongs to you.  

What you’ll need

• A valid ID document (national ID card or passport).
• A phone with a camera (or a computer with a webcam) and a stable internet connection.
• Good lighting and a clearly visible face (no sunglasses/masks) so the system can match your selfie.

Step-by-step

1. In registration, click the link to start identity verification.
2. Scan/photograph your ID (front + back if required).
3. Take a selfie following the on-screen prompts (liveness check).
4. The system compares the data automatically; results usually arrive within minutes.

Without successful verification, you can’t participate in the auction.

Tips for a smooth experience

• Use a smartphone and natural light; avoid glare on the ID.
• Make sure your name and date of birth are readable and the document isn’t damaged.
• If prompted to retake a shot, that’s normal (blurry/underexposed image).

(Stripe Identity is a Stripe service that verifies IDs and selfies in over 100 countries and is used worldwide; as a result, the process is fast and reliable.) 

You can bring your items in person or send them by post or courier. We recommend starting by emailing photos and a brief description to info@machochlapovic.com. Our specialist team will make a preliminary assessment and then agree the next steps with you.

If your items are accepted for auction, we provide a complete end-to-end service — from receipt, expert processing, photography, and catalogue presentation through to the successful sale and payment of the proceeds to your bank account or in cash.

We accept consignments year-round. The cut-off for inclusion in the next auction is typically 2–3 months before the auction date.

When we receive your items, we sign a Consignment Agreement that sets out all terms of cooperation — including the seller’s commission, settlement method, and the itemized list of lots.

The agreement is executed in two original copies; you keep one. Only after signing do the items enter the auction process.

No. Signing the agreement admits your coins, medals, and banknotes into the auction process, but inclusion in a specific sale is approved by the auction house’s auction manager based on expert assessment. You will be notified in writing whether they are included or not.

After receipt and expert assessment, your consigned property is photographed and described, and formed into lots for the printed and online auction catalogue.

We run two formats: saleroom auctions and eLive auctions.

• In saleroom auctions you can bid in person, by phone, by limit bid (enter your maximum in advance), or live online in real time via the AUEX bidding platform.
• In eLive auctions you bid by limit or live online via AUEX.

After the auction, we settle and pay the consignor (once buyers’ payments are received).

Once consigned, all coins, medals, and banknotes are insured and stored in secure vaults. We handle each lot with maximum care — from intake, inventory, professional photography and cataloguing to making it available to bidders and finally releasing it to the new owner.
